My Story

Photography in news media, advertisement, and magazines growing up was extremely prevalent — so I learned at a young age that a story can be told with a single image. The power of photography is astounding, and it drew me into its gravitational pull in junior high, where I earned my very first camera selling magazine subscriptions.

In high school, I became a photographer for the school newspaper and instantly fell in love with the personal interaction photography allows — from staging a cover shoot of the basketball team to capturing candid frustration at debate tournaments.

As I entered university, photography took a backseat while I went through the motions of passing accounting and economics classes — short lived. I began shooting for Drake Magazine and The Times-Delphic until I landed a position as Photographic Coordinator of the Drake Marketing Department on campus.

After graduation, I began shooting weddings, portraits, and interiors, and have been ever since. My true passion lies in capturing the surroundings and peoples of other walks of life. I began to travel extensively; living in China, New Zealand, Russia, and Australia gave me the ability to reach far-off places and capture everything as I experienced it.

My goal is to produce images that make people feel some emotion, as so many images have moved me over my life. I aspire to encapsulate my experiences and share them, giving a glimpse into day-to-day life from around the world. As always, there is a story behind every image.
